MEMBERSHIP

The Biblical model of belonging to the Body of Christ encompasses the following principles:

1. Born again, Baptized Believer in Jesus Christ:

a. Jesus was sent for a reason: John 3:16-18
b. Jesus is the connection to God: John 14:6
c. Jesus set the example: Matthew 3:13-17
d. Follow Jesus and receive: Acts 2:38

2. Belong to a Community Group:

a. Encourage one another: Hebrews 10:19-25
b. Bear one another’s burdens: Galatians 6:1-5
c. Strength in numbers: Ecclesiastes 4:8-12
d. Grow together Spiritually: Colossians 3:16

3. Serve in Ministry:

a. We each have an important role: 1Cor. 12:31
b. We have an assignment: Eph. 2:10
c. Builds up the Body of Christ: Eph. 4:11-13
d. Service is Praise to God: 1Peter 4:8-11

4. Giving our Tithes:

The model of giving in the Old Testament, set by God, was the giving of your “first-fruits” which is giving to God your best and your first portion of your income. The amount God had set as a standard for giving was 10 percent. The New Testament speaks of generous giving with a cheerful heart, this sets the standard for our attitude as we give to the cause of Christ.

a. Test God: Malachi 3:10-12
b. Our obedience blesses God: Mark 12:41-44
c. Generosity reaps Generosity: 2Cor. 9:6-8

5. Regular Church Attendance:

a. Do not neglect meeting: Hebrews 10:19-25
