Christmas Present and Christmas Eve

Christmas present

At our staff meeting this week I was in the midst of welcoming our Missionaries from Kenya (Doug and Jennifer Kurz) when Taleah and Debbie  interrupted me to give Mike and I our Christmas presents from the staff.  The staff truly touched my heart by getting me something that was personal and really showed that they know me.  They got me a Sabbath Basket!

For my Birthday this year, our family is going to share in a Sabbath Celebration together.  So the staff packed the basket with everything that we will need to celebrate Sabbath.  I got a gift card to Costco, so we can buy our Sabbath feast. I love the food from Costco! I got a bottle of really good wine, a game for us to play as a family, a Yamaka hat from Temple Beth Shalom (the people at the Temple actually gave it to me as a gift), a gorgeous and big candle to represent the staff, and a gift card to Fredrick’s for Pam!

I have to say that as everyone laughed about the gift card, I stood there trying to figure out why everyone was laughing. Then, it dawned on me what kind of store Fredrick’s was and I joined in on the laughter!

I loved the entire basket but the gift that was the most meaningful to me was the candle. The staff  let me know that we are a family.  They said that as Pam and I pray for our family members during our Sabbath celebration, they want to be included. They want the candle to represent the Crossroads staff! Oh, how I love them! They really are my family and I am so blessed to be a part of a staff who not only works together but loves each other like a true family.

Don’t forget to come celebrate with our family on Christmas Eve at one of our three services: 5:00, 7:00, and 11:00.  Communion will be celebrated at the 11:00 service.
