SLUMS OF HOPE
In my life, there are days that are life-filled and days that are God-filled. Today was one of those amazing God-filled days. After a phenomenal day at VBS, we went to the slums of Kiamaiko for the “Bring the Light” project. We split off into groups of four so we can reach out to as many homes as we could. We were nervous because we were literally going through a dangerous part of the slums, but we were prepared to live dangerously for the Lord. The first house we went to broke our hearts. We met a woman, who used to be a Christian, but at the age of 15 married a Muslim and converted to the Islam. Twenty-five years later, she had two adult sons, but her husband died along the way. She said she still believed in Jesus, but she couldn't convert back to Christianity because it meant her Muslim sons would disown her and refuse to bury her body when she dies. Her two sons (and her grandchild) are the only family left in her life, so disowning her and not burying her was such a devastating thought to her. However, she did want her grandchild to grow up as a Christian, but she couldn't bring herself to accept Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Once the Holy Spirit took over, we showed her that an eternity with Jesus Christ and being with her grandchild in heaven as a Christian was a far better reward than being buried and disowned by her sons as a Muslim. We all broke into tears, and after conversing and praying with her, SHE GAVE HER LIFE TO CHRIST!!!! You see, back at home, I used to be nervous about witnessing to other people simply because I didn't know what to say. But when God took over, that spirit of fear and timidity left and the spirit of power took full control! For me, I was simply ECSTATIC that the first person I witnessed to in my life was a huge victory. And the fact that it was in Kenya just made it even cooler! Having said that, I encourage all of you to let God take over so He can use us completely too live DANGEROUS lives at home and win hearts for Jesus Christ. It's just amazing how God knew this would happen to this precious woman from the very beginning of time, and chose a specific group of people to travel half way around the world to that small village, in that small little house, just so she can have that chance to choose Jesus Christ as her one true king. This is a perfect example of God's beautiful tapestry of life. It was an amazing and victorious day in the slums, and it's just the beginning!

A LITTLE HAVEN IN THE DARKNESS
Recently I had the opportunity to visit and witness a little piece of Heaven on earth in Dahmoh India of all places. It exists in the form of the Children's Home of CICM. In the cities and towns all around India we gazed into the faces of many sad and deprived children. The children who live in the Children's Home by contrast are some of the happiest kids I have ever experienced. Their Joy and love was beyond infectious. I was awakened every morning by the sounds of their laughter echoing off the marble floors, this was an example of children who were absolutely loved and cared for. Every day they enjoy vegetables that are grown in the garden, and fresh milk that comes from the cows and water buffalos milked in their own Dairy. It is clear that these little ones who were treated as “the least of these” are shown every day that they have infinite and everlasting value.

In Trujillo, Peru there are thousands of people living in poverty in barrios outside the city. We want to give hope to those who are physically suffering, socially abandoned, economically trapped, and spiritually seeking. We are doing this by ministering to seven of the most needy areas of Trujillo, Peru.

From 20 year olds with huge smiles across their faces to elders in there 70s who walk up with tears of joy as they reached for The Word of God they so desperately longed for, the looks on the faces of those receiving the Bibles on our trip to China is something I can never forget. Some of these beautiful people had walked over 8 hours to be there. Their passion was incredible! As soon as they received their bibles they would enthusiastically began reading or asking us what our favorite verse was. This ministry is an incredible gift from God! To be involved in any way would be a huge blessing!
