The 12 steps are applicable and beneficial for anyone who is overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, and/or dependencies. Examples of these dependencies include but are not limited to, alcohol, drugs, anxiety, depression, sex, pornography, food, gambling or anything else that is negatively impacting one’s life and relationship with God and others.
The goal of the 12 Steps is personal, relational, and spiritual growth, so that one may experience various degrees of healing, with the ultimate goal being Freedom in Christ. The only requirements needed in order to effectively work these steps is honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness.
There are two settings in which an individual may work these steps. The first one is in a one on one setting with a Sponsor who has themselves already worked the steps, or in a group setting with a group facilitator who has also already worked the steps. Either setting is gender specific.
