WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT?
- Once we receive your information, we will match you with an available therapist. Once matched, that therapist will either call, text, or email you to discuss potential meeting times. If a meeting time cannot be found, your information will be passed on to another therapist.
HOW MUCH DOES A THERAPY SESSION COST?
- Therapist Associates are available at $120 per session.
- MFT Trainees are available on a sliding scale starting at $85.00 per session and work their way down.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TRAINEE AND AN ASSOCIATE, VERSUS A LICENSED THERAPIST?
- A licensed therapist has already completed the 3,000 hours of training and passed the board exam.
- To obtain a list of licensed therapists, please click here
- An associate is in the process of completing the 3,000 hours of training to take the board exam and is under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist.
- An MFT Trainee is someone who is still in school completing their master’s degree in counseling and is under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
- We do not accept any form of medical insurance; however, you may have options for reimbursing your expenses through your insurance provider or employee benefit plan. Our therapists will provide a receipt (also known as a superbill) upon request for 2-4 sessions at a time. If your plan allows, you can submit the bill to your insurance for reimbursement, less the pre-determined co-pay. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
- Does my insurance pay for “out-of-network providers?”
- What is my deductible, and has it been met?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
- We do not and cannot guarantee that insurance will reimburse you for the cost of therapy
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
- We accept cash, check, or credit card payments
- Payments are due at the end of each session
HOW DO I CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
- If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, you can do so by contacting your therapist directly
- You will be charged the full session fee for a missed appointment that is not cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
- Consider your first session as a learning experience. You are learning about your therapist, and your therapist is learning about you. You may bring in questions and read your therapist’s bio online. Your first session does not obligate you to more sessions.
Your session may take many forms, but will typically involve the following:
-
- Discussion of Crossroads Counseling Policies and Values
-
- Discussion of confidentiality, procedures, and your rights as a client
-
- Discussion about why you are coming to therapy
- Sessions are 45-50 minutes in length and begin on the hour
ARE THERE ALTERNATIVES TO PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING CARE?
- Yes, we have a Pastor on call Monday – Thursday from 8-4:30 who is available to provide spiritual and biblical counsel, prayer, and support.
- Our Pastors, however, do not provide professional counseling services unless they have met the requirements set forth by the state of California and have been assigned to you as a counselor.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND CROSSROADS TO RECEIVE COUNSELING?
- No, our services are open to everyone, regardless of religious affiliation or church attendance.
WHAT TYPES OF COUNSELING DO YOU OFFER?
- We provide professional individual, marriage, couples, family, and child/adolescent therapy. Our team includes Associates and Trainee Therapists who are working towards licensure under clinical supervision. We do provide referrals to licensed therapists when requested and/or needed.
